DEFENSE
The U.S. Navy awarded IrvinGQ Ltd. a $24.8 million contract for the production of the MK-59 Floating Decoy System, designed to protect naval surface warships from radar-guided anti-ship missiles. The MK-59 decoy, which inflates and mimics a ship's radar signature, can remain operational for up to three hours in rough sea conditions.
It enhances existing defenses such as chaff and electronic warfare systems, and has been in use since 2013. The contract work will be carried out in various locations, including Bridgend, Wales, and West Fargo, North Dakota, with completion expected by December 2026.
