Israel Launches Hydrogen Production Valley in the Negev to Advance Clean Energy

AMMONIAELECTROLYZERHYDROGENSYNTHETIC FUELS

The Israel Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has unveiled an international hydrogen valley in the eastern Negev desert, integrating hydrogen production, refueling, storage, and power generation. The initiative, supported by over 40 million shekels (approximately $12 million) and an additional 100 million shekels for local development, aims to produce green hydrogen using large-scale electrolysers and pyrolysis reactors, with operations expected to start in early 2026.

The project plans to establish a hydrogen refueling station and a network for transportation and storage, facilitating the distribution of hydrogen and ammonia. This development aligns with Israel's commitment to a 27% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030 and net-zero by 2050. It aims to create high-tech jobs and attract global research talent, while also addressing environmental concerns through community engagement and sustainable practices.
