Jammu and Kashmir Minister Reviews Power and Irrigation Projects in Poonch and Rajouri Districts
Minister Javed Ahmed Rana chaired a meeting to review power distribution, transmission infrastructure, irrigation works, and hydropower projects in Poonch and Rajouri districts. Attendees included senior officials from JKPDCL and other related departments.
The Minister emphasized strengthening electricity infrastructure to ensure reliable power supply, particularly in remote areas. Discussions covered the expansion of distribution lines and ongoing projects under Central and UT schemes, addressing issues such as right-of-way and construction delays.
Progress on the Siot-Rajouri Receiving Station and Parnai Hydropower Project was evaluated, with completion timelines set for December 2027 and emphasis on enhancing energy security. The Minister also reviewed the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme, reporting 58% physical progress in Rajouri and 19% in Poonch. Additionally, he directed action on the delayed Anas Irrigation Canal project and stressed the importance of rural electrification initiatives.
