Jammu and Kashmir to Generate ₹15,000-20,000 Crore Annually from Mining in 5-7 Years, Says LG
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced that Jammu and Kashmir can generate an additional annual revenue of ₹15,000-20,000 crore in the next five to seven years by leveraging its mining sector, which includes limestone, sapphire, lithium, and other minerals. Speaking at the Strategic Management Forum at IIM Jammu, Sinha emphasized the importance of strategic planning and highlighted the need to enhance the hydropower sector and amend the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme to align with economic demands.
He called for macroeconomic stability, increased investment in education and health, and the use of digital tools for effective governance. Sinha also addressed the importance of uniting the community against divisive narratives and reaffirmed the commitment to eliminating terrorism in the region.
