Japan's Acquisition, Technology & Logistics Agency (ATLA) has completed the development of the land-based Improved Type 12 Surface to Ship Missile, which boasts a range of 1000km. Live firing tests were conducted overseas due to local range limitations, and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force plans to deploy operational rounds by 2026. Additionally, air-launched variants will be integrated into Mitsubishi F-2s by FY2027, alongside sea-based versions for destroyers.
