Jim Rowan, former CEO of Volvo Cars and Dyson, has been appointed chair of Scotland's Smart Things Accelerator Centre (Stac) as it launches a £15 million fund aimed at scaling local technology startups in sectors like robotics and AI. Since its founding in 2021, Stac has supported 120 startups, facilitated £50 million in investment, and created 400 jobs, while fostering connections among academia, industry, and government. The new fund is part of Stac's strategy to empower Scottish startups and combat the trend of companies relocating for better access to capital and markets.
