Kankakee/Yellow River Basin Commission Completes Bank Stabilization and Yellow River Reconstruction Projects
DEFENSE
The Kankakee/Yellow River Basin Commission has completed a two-mile bank stabilization project on the Kankakee River and finished Phase III of the Yellow River reconstruction, restoring nearly five miles of eroding channel. Established in 2019, the commission focuses on mitigating flood risks and enhancing river conditions, with future plans to remove the State Line Bridge and reconfigure water control structures at the Kankakee Fish and Wildlife Area. Permits for the bridge removal have been issued by state agencies, with a federal permit still pending.
