Kasama Resident Urges Establishment of Mining Cadastre in Zambia

DEFENSE

James Mutambo, a resident of Kasama, has urged the Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development to establish a public mining cadastre to improve access to mining licenses and combat illegal mining activities in Zambia. He noted that the lack of a cadastre has contributed to the rise of illegal mining, which poses safety risks and results in significant revenue loss. Mutambo also stressed the need for compliance with the Zambia Army Commander's directive for illegal miners to vacate mining areas to ensure national security.
