Kelayres Town Hall Meeting Postponed; Supervisors Discuss Eminent Domain for Road Acquisition
On December 8, a scheduled meeting at Kelayres Town Hall regarding Amazon's data center plans was postponed due to high attendance. Supervisors are seeking a larger venue for a public meeting with Amazon in January.
In a separate meeting at a larger facility, supervisors authorized a declaration to acquire a section of Snyder Avenue through eminent domain. The proposed road will be 100 feet long and 33 feet wide, connecting to Marcus Court.
Supervisor Gary Perna stated the township has maintained the dirt road for over 30 years, necessitating ownership for state funding eligibility. Nicolas Luceno, owner of the affected land, indicated the township initially sought to relocate the road due to water pressure complaints, but later cited safety concerns about a curve. Luceno proposed alternatives and criticized the township's offer of $1 for 0.36 acres as inadequate compensation.
