The Kenosha Unified School District board approved a policy for walk-through metal detectors in all six high schools, following six weapon incidents in two weeks. The district plans to spend nearly $473,500 from general fund reserves for 18 units and 15 handheld wands.
The CEIA OpenGate system, capable of screening 300 people every 15 minutes, will be installed at various high schools. Parents have expressed support for the initiative, emphasizing the need for student safety.
