Kenya Electricity Generating Company Seeks Additional 200MW from Marsabit Wind Power Project
GEOTHERMAL
Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) is pursuing an additional 200MW from the Marsabit Wind Power Project to meet the rising electricity demand in Kenya, which increases by 100-120MW annually. This initiative aligns with the government's goal to phase out thermal power within five years and transition to 100% renewable energy.
KenGen is also collaborating with the Geothermal Development Company to add 300MW from geothermal sources and plans to enhance production at the Olkaria I plant. The company aims to contribute significantly to the national grid over the next decade.
