Khulna Shipyard Limited Advances 20 Shipbuilding Projects for Bangladesh Navy and Other Authorities
Khulna Shipyard Limited (KSY), under the Bangladesh Navy, is executing 20 shipbuilding projects, including Landing Craft Tanks (LCTs) and various vessels for government entities. Since its transfer to the Navy in 1999, KSY has constructed over 800 ships and transformed into a profitable facility.
Three LCTs will be delivered to the Bangladesh Navy by May 2026, alongside a search and rescue vessel for the Mongla Port Authority and tugboats for the Payra Port Authority. By June 2026, KSY is set to deliver cutter suction dredgers and catamaran boats for other authorities.
KSY earned approximately Tk 800 crore in the 2024-25 fiscal year and aims to reduce import dependence by building warships and various vessels domestically. Established in 1957, KSY is now the country’s largest state-owned shipyard, employing about 1,200 skilled workers and generating an annual turnover of around Tk 7 billion.
