Kirloskar Oil Engines to Deliver India's First Locally Made Marine Engine by April 2028

Kirloskar Oil Engines Ltd is on track to deliver a 6 MW V12 marine engine to the Indian Navy by April 2028. The project is part of India's indigenization efforts in defense, with the prototype currently in development and requiring over 50% indigenous content.
The Union government is contributing 70% of the ₹270 crore funding. The company is establishing a dedicated manufacturing facility in Nasik for the project and has emphasized the importance of retaining intellectual property in India for national security.
