Kota Samarahan Council Addresses Sinking Road Issue on Jalan Datuk Mohd Musa

DEFENSE

Repair works on a sinking section of road off Jalan Datuk Mohd Musa have not yet started, as the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) is considering several factors. A complaint from residents was received on Dec 2, prompting an inspection that revealed cracks near a monsoon drain.

Preliminary findings indicated that water flow from twin culverts at Muara Tuang Army Camp compromised the drain wall structure, weakening its foundation. MPKS stated that a strata soil and rock report is needed, along with adherence to disaster allocation procurement processes.

Follow-up site visits were conducted on Dec 5 and 6 to assess the situation. Warning signs were placed on Dec 8, and on Dec 9, MPKS officials communicated with residents about ongoing actions. A councillor's follow-up visit occurred on Dec 15. On Dec 16, a special assistant to MP Chong Chieng Jen urged for immediate action due to rising safety concerns.
