Kyrgyzstan Advances Green Energy Initiatives with Multiple Hydropower and Solar Projects in 2025

In 2025, Kyrgyzstan focused on advancing green energy initiatives, including the near-completion of the Orto-Tokoy hydropower plant and the groundwork for the Papan plant. The country plans to commission 12 new hydropower plants and construct a 250 MW solar power facility in Batken, supported by over $800 million from the Asian Development Bank for the Kambarata-1 project. Additionally, Kyrgyzstan aims for a 10% share of green energy by 2040 through regulatory enhancements to attract investments.
