Kyuden Mirai Energy Decommissions Hacchobaru Binary Power Plant in Japan

Kyuden Mirai Energy has officially decommissioned the Hacchobaru Binary Power Plant in Kokonoe, Oita Prefecture, effective December 31, 2025. The facility, Japan's first commercial binary geothermal plant, had been idle since January 2020 and operated from 2004 to 2006 with a 2,000-kilowatt output. Meanwhile, the Hacchobaru Geothermal Power Plant, which has a total output of 110,000 kilowatts, will remain operational.
