Laguna Province to Generate Over 2.5 GW Renewable Energy for Luzon Grid by 2026
Laguna province is set to become a significant renewable energy supplier for the Luzon grid, with output expected to exceed one gigawatt as various projects come online. Investments are being made in hydro, solar, wind, and geothermal sources, creating tens of thousands of jobs.
Key projects include a 250 MW floating solar farm on Caliraya Lake, a 140 MW solar project in Sta. Cruz, and a 280 MW wind project in Kalayaan and Paete, with operations expected to start by 2026. Additional hydro facilities in Pakil are projected to generate over 2,000 MW, potentially replacing coal plants. These developments are part of a broader shift towards renewable energy in the Philippines, aimed at reducing energy costs and increasing competitiveness.
