Latvia Allocates €2.42 Million to Enhance Riga Airport Drone Security
The Latvian government has allocated €2.42 million to enhance security at Riga Airport against drone threats. Funding comprises €1.955 million from the European Regional Development Fund and €465,637 from the Latvian state budget.
The project, developed by the Ministry of Communications, aims to create a comprehensive defense system that includes drone detection infrastructure, sensors, and appropriate software. The initiative's primary goal is to improve the airport's capability to detect, recognize, track, and counter unauthorized drone flights within critical airspace and airport territory, as Riga Airport is classified as strategic infrastructure vital for national security.
