Launch of 100 MW Cogeneration Center in Tashkent Enhances Winter Energy Supply
A large-capacity cogeneration center has been launched in the Yunusabad district of Tashkent, providing simultaneous electricity and heat production to ensure stable thermal energy supply during winter. The project, developed through a public-private partnership with China's CNTIC, has a capacity of 100 MW, financed by $65 million in foreign investment.
The facility features 70 gas-piston units from Rolls-Royce and has undergone significant infrastructure upgrades, including the renewal of heat mains and insulation of pipes to minimize energy loss. It is expected to produce 876 million kilowatt-hours of electricity and 858 thousand gigacalories of thermal energy annually, saving 35 million cubic meters of natural gas per year.
The project will reduce thermal energy production costs by 40-45% and significantly cut pollutant emissions. Additionally, 1,846 facilities across five districts will benefit from consistent thermal energy supply.
