Law Ministry Budget Cut to ₹4,509 Crore; Increases for Supreme Court and Election Commission in 2026-27

DEFENSE

The Ministry of Law and Justice's budget for 2026-27 has been reduced to ₹4,509.06 crore, a decrease of ₹400 crore from the previous year. In contrast, the Supreme Court's budget has increased to ₹622.11 crore, and the Election Commission's allocation has risen to ₹382.20 crore. Additionally, significant funds have been earmarked for infrastructure development, legal aid initiatives, and the e-Courts Phase III project.
