Lockheed C-130 Hercules: Overview of Production and Variants
DEFENSE
The Lockheed C-130 Hercules, in production since 1956, has delivered over 2,800 units globally, with Australia set to acquire 20 new C-130Js by 2027. Despite facing competition from newer aircraft, Lockheed Martin is reducing C-130J production from 30 to 24 units annually due to declining U.S. Air Force orders, while the C-130 family remains the longest continuously produced military aircraft, with production expected to continue into the 2030s.
