Luxembourg Government Council Approves Tax Reform, Healthcare Bill, and New School in Schifflange
The Luxembourg Government Council approved several draft bills on healthcare, defence, education, and digital policy. A significant tax reform to establish a single tax class, presented by Finance Minister Gilles Roth, is expected in January.
The Council also approved a draft bill allowing doctors to form joint surgeries, restricting participation to licensed medical professionals and prohibiting non-medical investment. In defence, measures to enhance the Luxembourg Army include broader recruitment for EU citizens and significant pay increases for voluntary soldiers, raising starting salaries from €2,200 to approximately €2,700.
A national digital strategy extending to 2030 and an action plan for organic agriculture were also approved. Additionally, the construction of a new public European secondary school in Schifflange was authorized.
