The Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Limited, in collaboration with Maharashtra State Power Transmission Company, conducted a black start mock drill at the Pench Hydroelectric Power Station to ensure rapid power system restoration during emergencies. The exercise successfully backed up approximately 5,000 MW of generating capacity, with officials emphasizing the importance of continuous training for black-start-capable power plants to mitigate potential economic and social losses. The 160 MW Pench Hydropower Station is the sole hydropower facility in Central India and the Vidarbha region.
