Madison Township to Decide on Anduril's Zoning Change Amid Concerns of Native Historical Sites
Madison Township trustees are set to decide on a zoning change allowing defense manufacturer Anduril to expand its Arsenal-1 site by adding four parcels of land. Ross Larue, a professor at Ohio State University, argues that the area may contain Native American historical sites and has requested a pause on the rezoning.
Anduril's project, which involves building and testing weaponry, is Ohio's largest single-site job creation initiative. Current zoning designates the land as rural residential, necessitating a change for construction.
Larue utilized LiDAR technology to identify potential earthworks, while Anduril's partner, CT Realty, claims thorough archaeological assessments found no evidence of such sites. The rezoning meeting will take place Thursday at 7 p.m. in Ashville, Ohio.
