Marshall County Commission and BOE Sign Agreement with Calpine for Natural Gas Power Facility
The Marshall County Commission and the Marshall County Board of Education have entered into an agreement with Calpine Mid-Atlantic Development, LLC to develop a natural gas power facility. The agreement, approved on Tuesday, includes a payment in lieu of tax arrangement and a 30-year lease for a 37.5-acre site near Moundsville, West Virginia.
This project aims to support local labor and utilize regional natural resources. The initiative aligns with Governor Patrick Morrisey's target of achieving 50 gigawatts of energy by 2050 and is expected to create well-paying jobs in the area. Further steps are required for Calpine to finalize project approvals and initiate construction.
