MIDA Expands Utah Projects with Addition of 43,000 Acres in Tooele

DEFENSE

The Military Installation Development Authority (MIDA) expanded its presence in Utah by adding over 43,000 acres to its project areas, specifically at the Tooele Army Depot. This addition, approved on December 16, 2025, aims to assist the depot in modernizing its infrastructure through an enhanced use lease mechanism.

MIDA has been active in supporting military and veteran-related projects across Utah since its establishment in 2007. In addition to the Tooele project, MIDA also incorporated 142 acres into its existing Utah National Guard project area, which includes 27 sites statewide.

The changes depend on approval from the Tooele City Council, with future developments potentially including a new armory and readiness center for the National Guard. Details on the Tooele projects will be discussed further at a board meeting scheduled for January 13, 2026.
