The MNRE hosted a national consultation on February 20, 2026, to discuss India's draft roadmap for Floating Solar Photovoltaic (FSPV) projects. The event aimed to identify suitable water bodies for FSPV development amid land constraints, with only 700 MW of capacity currently commissioned.

Draft documents prepared by NISE and IIT Roorkee were presented, and states were encouraged to engage local stakeholders for feedback. The finalized policy will guide large-scale FSPV deployment while ensuring ecological compliance.
