Modular Drone Case from Army's Dragon's Lair Competition Enters Production

DEFENSE

A modular drone case developed by paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne is set for production following its runner-up position at the XVIII Airborne Corps' Dragon's Lair competition in June 2025. This initiative reflects the Army's efforts to improve warfighter capabilities and streamline acquisition processes.

The project, led by Spc. Alexander Soto and Staff Sgt. Larry Dockins, resulted in a lightweight and jumpable drone case compatible with various small unmanned aerial systems, facilitated by the Lt.

Gen. James M. Gavin Joint Innovation Outpost.
