MuWave Secures Funding to Develop High-Powered Microwave Technology for UK Fusion Energy
GEOTHERMALFUSION & ADVANCED NUCLEAR POWER
MuWave, a spinout from the UK Atomic Energy Authority, has secured £450,000 from the UK Innovation and Science Seed Fund to advance high-powered microwave technology aimed at heating fusion plasma. This funding will support the development of gyrotron microwave sources and facilitate exports, aligning with UKAEA's strategy to commercialize fusion research and stimulate economic growth. The technology is expected to be utilized in the UK's prototype fusion power plant, STEP Fusion, and has broader applications in satellite communications, radar, geothermal drilling, and medical imaging.
