NAS Pensacola Reaffirms Environmental Commitment with Tree City USA Recertification
Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola held a tree planting ceremony on December 11 to reaffirm its commitment to environmental sustainability and to mark its recertification as a Tree City USA community. The event featured participation from service members, civilian personnel, and community partners, emphasizing the Navy's dedication to conservation efforts.
NAS Pensacola Commanding Officer Capt. Chandra Newman highlighted the significance of the Tree City USA program, which recognizes communities for their urban forestry management. To maintain its certification, NAS Pensacola must continue investing in tree care and celebrate Arbor Day.
The installation, known as the 'Cradle of Naval Aviation,' supports various naval training missions and serves as a safe harbor for U.S. Coast Guard and USNS ships during severe weather.
