On January 6, 2026, Navy officials and community partners broke ground on a $52 million Child Development Center at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story in Virginia Beach, set to be the largest in the Hampton Roads area. Designed to support up to 300 children, the 41,000-square-foot facility will feature 25 activity rooms and playgrounds, aiming to enhance family readiness and modernize Navy infrastructure while addressing childcare waitlists. Construction is scheduled to begin in February 2026, with completion expected by 2028.
