Nepal's Minister Ghising Announces Cancellation of Delayed Development Contracts
Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Kul Man Ghising stated that the Nepalese government will terminate contracts for stalled development projects. Speaking in Shuklagandaki Municipality, he emphasized that delayed projects would not be tolerated and that new tenders will be issued after cancelling non-performing contracts.
He mentioned the need for improved coordination with provincial governments to advance projects in limbo. Minister Ghising also highlighted the importance of constructing new roads and bridges while maintaining existing infrastructure.
He promised to engage with stakeholders after a memorandum from local residents. Regarding the Tanahu Hydropower Project, he noted its potential economic benefits and the possibility of offering shares to local residents, as it is owned by the Nepal Electricity Authority. Additionally, he visited GP Koirala National Centre for Respiratory Diseases, where requests for a new power line and facility upgrade were made.
