SOLAR ENERGY

The National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) and Shams Specialised Company signed agreements to establish a 100-megawatt solar power project in Jordan. The project aims to support the industrial sector and advance renewable energy adoption.

The initiative was announced during a signing ceremony attended by key officials, including the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources. The project is set to begin in January and is expected to reduce energy costs, enhancing the competitiveness of Jordanian products.

NEPCO will build a 400 kV substation and transmission line to connect the solar plant to the national grid, while Shams will construct the plant and supply electricity to affiliated factories. The project aligns with Jordan's national energy strategy and is anticipated to benefit the industrial sector within two years by lowering operating costs and improving efficiency.
