Civil society organizations in Cambodia urged for additional environmental and social impact assessments on the Lower Srepok 3 hydropower dam project after its capacity increased from 300 MW to 376 MW. The dialogue held in Phnom Penh highlighted concerns over the project's unclear impact on waterways and the displacement of nearly 4,270 families. The $900.2 million project, led by Royal Group Power in collaboration with Chinese partners, faces criticism over compensation policies and inadequate stakeholder engagement.
