Nigeria Police Rescue 11 Passengers Abducted on Benin-Akure Highway

The Nigeria Police Force has rescued 11 of the 18 passengers abducted by gunmen on the Benin-Akure highway near Obarenren village in Edo state on December 12. The passengers were kidnapped after the assailants stopped their vehicle at gunpoint and forced them into the bush.
Following a distress call, police mobilized security operatives, including the army, vigilantes, and local hunters, to conduct a bush-combing operation. As of Sunday, 11 passengers have been rescued, while seven remain in captivity. Police are continuing efforts to secure the release of the remaining victims.
