Nigerian Navy Launches Operation Delta Sentinel to Support 2.5m bpd Oil Production
DEFENSE
The Nigerian Navy has launched Operation Delta Sentinel to enhance maritime security and support the government's target of 2.5 million barrels per day in crude oil production by 2027. This operation, which replaces Operation Delta Sanity, aims to combat oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta through increased naval presence and intelligence-driven operations. The initiative will run for one year, with potential renewals every 90 days, as part of broader efforts to protect national assets and boost oil production.
