Northern Arctic University Launches Diamond Synthesis Laboratory Using CVD Method
QUANTUM COMPUTING
A diamond synthesis laboratory has been established at Northern Arctic Federal University in Arkhangelsk. Scientists utilize the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method to synthesize diamonds from carbon gas, introducing nitrogen during growth to enhance properties.
The resulting synthetic diamonds with nitrogen vacancy (NV) centers are intended for applications in quantum computing and ultra-precise sensors. The growth rate is several microns per hour, producing thin layers suitable for research.
