Nova Sustainable Fuels Secures Environmental Approval for $4B Renewable Energy Project in Nova Scotia

METHANOLSUSTAINABLE AVIATION FUEL

Nova Sustainable Fuels has received environmental approval from Nova Scotia for its $4 billion industrial plant on Eastern Shore to produce sustainable aviation fuel and renewable methanol. The project, supported by Octopus Energy Generation, aims to utilize solar, wind, and biomass resources.

Nova Scotia's Environment Minister Tim Halman approved the first phase, requiring the project to commence within two years and develop engagement plans with the Mi'kmaq. The facility will use 60 truckloads of biomass daily and withdraw 586 cubic meters of water per hour from nearby lakes.

The second phase involves building wind and solar farms, which will undergo another environmental assessment planned for 2027. The project is projected to take three years to construct and have a lifespan of 50 years.
