NTPC TN Energy Company Limited has selected a site for the Upper Bhavani Pumped Storage Project in the Nilgiris district, prioritizing lower forest diversion and ecological risk. The 1,000 MW project, a collaboration between NTPC Ltd and Tangedco, has applied for forest clearance to divert 56.35 hectares of land while avoiding new submergence by utilizing existing reservoirs.
