A media workshop in Bhubaneswar on December 11-12, organized by iForest and GRIDCO, emphasized Odisha's renewable energy (RE) plans. The state aims to achieve 10.95 GW of RE capacity by 2030 under its Renewable Energy Policy 2022.

Approximately 2 GW of projects are approved, with advancements in Floating Solar PV Power Projects set for 2025. Journalists visited key RE sites, including OUAT, where solar panels are tested with pineapple saplings, and CV Raman University, featuring a solar-powered EV charging station.

The Tata Steel plant at Kalinganagar showcased floating solar panels. India's RE sector, with nearly 200 GW installed capacity, targets 500 GW by 2030. However, 86% of capacity is concentrated in seven states. iFOREST research highlights Eastern India's untapped RE potential, particularly in floating solar, agri-PV, and rooftop solar, advocating for land-neutral technologies to address land conflicts.
