Oglethorpe Power Selects Kiewit to Build 1,425 MW Gas Plant in Georgia

Oglethorpe Power has selected Kiewit Corporation's subsidiary, TIC, to construct a 1,425-MW combined-cycle natural gas power plant in Monroe County, Georgia, with construction beginning in Spring 2026 and commercial operations expected by 2029. The project aims to meet the electricity demands of Oglethorpe's 38 cooperatives serving 4.7 million customers and will utilize GE Vernova's 7HA.03 gas turbines. Peak construction is projected to create around 1,200 jobs, while 30 permanent positions are currently being filled.
