The Municipality of Šoštanj will support Slovenia's first floating solar power plant only if it ensures benefits for local residents, including annual compensation and citizen participation. Mayor Boris Goličnik emphasized the need for these conditions alongside the project's environmental assessments and plans for construction by late 2027. The floating solar plant at Družmirje lake, developed by Holding Slovenske elektrarne, is projected to have a capacity of 120 MW and a value of approximately EUR 110 million.
