Pakistan and Iran Aim to Boost Bilateral Trade to $10 Billion with New Joint Trade Committee
Pakistan and Iran have set a target to increase bilateral trade to $10 billion following a meeting between business and diplomatic leaders. The goal, described as ambitious yet achievable, focuses on stronger cooperation and sustained engagement.
The agreement was reached during discussions between FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh and Iranian Consul General Akbar Esazadeh, who emphasized the importance of structured dialogue and improved institutional links. A Pak-Iran Joint Trade Committee will be established to eliminate trade barriers and enhance coordination, providing a platform for public and private sector dialogue.
Additionally, the Qazvin Chamber of Commerce is set to participate in a major trade exhibition in Karachi to promote industrial cooperation. Joint investments in agriculture, chemicals, LNG, and energy were also discussed, with the expectation that enhanced trade relations will improve regional market access and create jobs.
