Parliamentary Defence Committee Visits DRDO's NPOL and Flags Off INS Sagardhwani

On January 17, 2026, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence, led by Radha Mohan Singh, visited the Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL) in Kochi to examine underwater sensors and sonar systems for the Indian Navy. During the visit, Singh flagged off INS Sagardhwani as part of the Sagar Maitri initiative, which aims to enhance collaboration among Indian Ocean Rim nations through scientific and socio-economic cooperation. NPOL is actively involved in oceanographic missions and has launched the MAITRI programme for long-term research collaboration.
