Parti Québécois Convention Votes Against Barring Oil and Gas Pipeline Projects in Quebec

NATURAL GAS

The Parti Québécois (PQ) has decided not to exclude future oil and gas pipeline projects in Quebec, as delegates at a convention in Saint-Hyacinthe voted against a resolution to prohibit such developments. Supporters of the resolution argued it could hinder access to essential natural gas for economic growth, but the motion was defeated by a significant majority. The discussions included a proposed gas pipeline project aimed at connecting Western Canada to Baie-Comeau for liquefied natural gas exports.
