Perpetuus Tidal Energy Centre (PTEC) is collaborating with Schottel Hydro GmbH and Tocardo Tidal Turbines on a 30 MW tidal energy project off the Isle of Wight. The project aims to optimize the performance of tidal turbine arrays and provide reliable electricity to the grid, with full operations expected to commence by 2020.

PTEC has secured all necessary project consents and a signed grid connection offer. The initiative, supported by the Isle of Wight Council, is anticipated to create and safeguard hundreds of jobs and attract investment in the local economy.

The development will utilize Triton platform technology, maximizing local manufacturing content. Tocardo’s UFS tidal solution will also be commercialized through this collaboration, following successful deployments in the Netherlands.
