Philippine Army Dismisses Colonel for Withdrawing Support from President Marcos Amid Corruption Scandal

Col. Audie A. Mongao of the Philippine Army was dismissed after withdrawing his support for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. amid a corruption scandal, stating the President had lost his moral authority to lead.
The Army Commanding General, Lt. Gen. Antonio Nafarrete, relieved Mongao to facilitate an investigation, while the United People's Initiative, a group of retired military officers, called for Marcos's resignation. The Army Training Command is currently assessing potential administrative and legal charges against Mongao.
