Philippine Energy Plan Aims for Balanced Transition to Renewable Sources by 2050

The Philippines is developing an energy blueprint aimed at balancing renewable energy integration, affordability, and security as it moves towards 2050. The Department of Energy (DOE) has implemented policies to attract private investments while ensuring equitable access to energy resources.

With a target of 35% renewable energy in the power mix by 2030 and 50% by 2040, the current share stands at 22%. The energy transition is poised to face challenges, particularly the energy trilemma of security, equity, and sustainability, which stakeholders are actively addressing.
