The Philippine Department of Energy (DOE) aims to add 25 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2035 through its Green Energy Auction (GEA) Program, announced at the Renewable Energy Investment Forum. The GEA program will involve competitive bidding for various renewable projects, including solar, wind, and biomass.
The DOE plans to auction over 8 GW from 2026 to 2027, with specific auctions focusing on technologies like rooftop solar and floating solar. The initiative supports government targets of 35% renewable energy in the power mix by 2030 and 50% by 2040.
