Plymouth City Council Appoints WSP for Masterplan of 10,000 New Homes and Infrastructure
Plymouth City Council has appointed WSP to lead the masterplanning for 10,000 new homes, infrastructure, and green spaces in the city center. The plan aims to transform underused areas into sustainable communities, supported by funding from Homes England and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
WSP will coordinate a multidisciplinary team to ensure practical and inclusive proposals rooted in Plymouth's identity. The masterplan will explore new homes, transport infrastructure, and public spaces.
The council is also working with the Government to support Plymouth's inclusion in the next generation of new towns. Homes England has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the council and purchased two buildings for redevelopment into apartments. The initiative seeks to attract diverse residents while addressing a housing crisis amid a significant investment in defense.
